London is home to more Christmas party venues than the rest of the UK combined. This is great for variety, but bad for decision making, premium prices, good venues fully booked a year in advance, and the challenge of agreeing a budget. We help you through the choices.

When to reserve

Most of central London is already fully booked for December Friday and Saturday events by June. This is especially true for larger ballrooms. If your team is more flexible, you’ll have more time to book your venue. A Friday or Saturday booking in the first three weeks of December is recommended by September.

Party nights vs private hire

Shared party nights are great for bigger venues like hotels and bars and are fully booked every December. These venues are great for a limited selection menu, a DJ, and a party with other companies. Expect to pay £40-60, or more if you want a drinks package.

Private hire means you pay more and central London adds a premium. Private hire of a venue on the riverside or of a rooftop venue will be fully booked quickly and require you to spend a set amount, rather than pay for a party directly.

Things to consider

If you’re needing to accommodate for participants traveling from different locations, Central London (Covent Garden, the West End, the City) gives the most access, variety, and choice. However, this also comes at the cost of steep pricing and higher competition for bookings.

Venues located on the South Bank and along the river may offer a nice photo backdrop and a distinction from a traditional hotel ballroom. However, these may be more of an inconvenience depending on your team’s location.

The more relaxed and traditional East London environments (warehouse spaces, unique bars) often come with a drastically lower price than West End venues.

Things to confirm before you book

  • What is your room rental agreement if your expected attendee count falls below the agreed number?
  • Are food and beverages included in the price?
  • Are there cloakroom and transport services, especially with a late party?
  • Is the venue fully accessible?

Your options multiply in London for all the reasons previously discussed. Booking early is crucial. Set your budget and your headcount, then start contacting venues because desirable dates disappear quickly. Browsing venues will only waste your time.
